Japan’s Explorer forges it’s own path! Description below ↡

The Seiko SARB017 Alpinist has both a great provenance, robust build quality, and an interesting highly detailed design. While the bold green dial and gold indices, coupled with an unusual internally rotating bezel designed to find true north, may not be to the typical tool watch collector’s taste, the Alpinist in this configuration represents a very unique interpretation of the sports watch. Considering it’s sub 0 price, it’s no wonder that it’s a cult classic.

Gorgeous watch, and excellent review, really enjoy the way you move the watch around to give a fair bit of perspectives.

I own this watch and it is really a terrific piece, comparable to much more expensive watches. That said, I feel that it's unnecessarily think and heavy. It never seems to sit comfortably no matter which strap or bracelet I use and because of that it only get worn occasionally, which is too bad since I like it so much.

I don't understand the appeal of this watch. I like seikos, but I just don't get why everyone loves this particular one. I despise watches with superfluous things like the useless moveable directional ring. I know it has a good movement, and I even love green, but I just don't get this one.

I actually think this watch is the most hideous watch Seiko has made… gasp

A very nice review. I did not know it was the 5th from Six gen altogether. And i agree that the dial combination is very unique and surprisingly beautiful. Anyway, i have been searching a review about Seiko SARW015 and have not seen any. can you make them? This watch have the potential of becoming an everyday watch just like the Sarb033/035

Great review, I plan on getting my first automatic watch soon. Either an ernest borel retro or an edox open heart. Im on the of getting yet not getting the ernest borel first because they are no longer purely based in Switzerland.
